Digital DIY Wednesday How to Create a Watermark Using GIMP

Happy Digital DIY Wednesday!
Today I have a video tutorial on how to create your own watermark using GIMP.  Recently there has been quite a buzz about copyright, and photographs on the internet, especially with regards to Pinterest and now Etsy.  I have had at least two friends of mine who have had their photographs stolen, and then reused as their own to sell similar Etsy items, which is not only dishonest and disgraceful, but also illegal, oh and I'd like to add unoriginal to the mix as well.
So, adding a watermark to your photographs that you will be sharing on the internet is a great way to protect yourself and your photographs!
Here are two samples of watermarks:

Below the video I'm providing a written step by step as well.
If the video appears too small within the blog screen, you can view it on You Tube HERE

Step By Step Instructions

1) Open the File you want to use as your watermark
2) Save a Copy of that file as a .gbr file and make sure you save this copy within the Gimp Brushes Folder (If you're not sure where the GIMP folder is, do a search for it using the "Search Programs and Files" on your Windows start bar
3) Open the file that you want to use the watermark on
4) Select the BRUSH tool and select the brush type. If you don't see the brush file you just created, hit the refresh arrows in the bottom left of the toolbox window
5) Once selected adjust the SCALE and OPACITY to where you want it and then click the brush onto where you want it to appear
*If you mess up and don't like where you put the watermark, or want to further adjust the size or opacity you can just hit CTRL and then Z to undo it. Once you click the brush onto the picture you cannot edit it so simply undo it and and adjust, and then redo the brush

DIY Wednesday: Re-Vamp Marble Top Side Tables

Happy DIY Wednesday!
I finally have a DIY Project that I completed...can you believe it? I almost can't. But it is indeed true.
Justin and I inherited two side tables from his Grandma. They had these GORGEOUS white marble tops, however everything else was a little bit icky. As in very fake antiqued gold looking legs, and a wooden bottom that looked like particle board.
So, I grabbed some handy dandy spray paint from Home Depot and got to spraying!
Here they are before...I removed the Marble so I could paint freely:
I simply taped up around the legs when I painted the wood, and then when that dried I removed that tape and then just taped the woooden parts just around the legs.
And here it is right after I finished painting outside:
And here is the finished product! As you can see, my overseer approved the end result with much enthusiasm:
HAVE A FANTASTIC WEDNESDAY!!!

DIY Gift Packaging for Tori Spelling

So I have declared this week DIY Gift Packaging week.
The Earth Day gifts, and Tori Spelling gifts are going out in the mail in the next couple of days, so gift packaging has been on the brain.
Yesterday I posted all about the Earth Day Gift Packaging...and now I bring you my packaging for Tori Spelling's jewelry!
I think that packaging is so important for a gift. It conveys a message, it sets a tone, and it creates excitement for the gift within all of the wrapping.
For Tori's gift, I wanted it to maintain a whimsical feel to it, with a bit of personalization and color.
I made my own necklace cards to hold the necklaces.
FRONT:                                                         BACK:

For a bit of cute personalization I found some Scrapbooking initial stickers that had some bling to them and added them to each of their necklace cards:
I then wrapped each one in some padding, and then fun colored tissue paper.  I found these cute little metal initial charms, and added them to some blue ribbon, wrapped them up and VOILA:

The back of each one looks like this, I used my sticker labels from my DIY Sticker Label post:
They all went into a simple white organza bag, I again used my sticker labels to create a little tag by pasting two together over some cardstock and there you have it!
