DIY Wednesday- Perched Little Birdies

This week's DIY Wednesday features my
Perched Little Birdies
Here is what I used:
1)  Cardboard Paper Towel Roll
2) Craft Glue
3) Yarn
4) Small Decorative Pears
5) Sky Blue Craft Paint
6) Magazine pages

And here is how I made it:
THE PERCH
1) Add about 1/4" strip of glue to the end of your cardboard roll
3) Now take the end of your yarn, and lay it over the glue, making sure it covers all of the cardboard and start wrapping until it is covered.  Apply another strip of glue to the other end, and trim the excess yarn
THE BIRDIES
1) Cut off the top, and then paint your little pears, I applied two coats, and then used a gloss varnish
I used tiny cardstock circles for the eyes, diamond shape cutouts for the beaks, and drew on the wings with a permanent marker
2) Glue them on to the yarn wrapped cardboard
THE PAPER ORBIES
1) Take your magazine pages, and trim off the ragged edges
2)  To get different side orbs, you simply cut them into different sizes as shown.  I cut up one of my hubby's dorky engineering magazines
3) Begin by folding in the corner of one of the sheets
and then keep folding until you get to the end, and dab some glue to secure it:
So now you have this:
6) Now, start a small fold at one end
and continue until your strip begins to roll up, rather than fold up. Secure the end with glue.
Then you can start arranging them together to form little orb families. Simply glue them together to make different shapes.
7) Glue them onto your yarn wrapped cardboard
and there you have your
THE PERCHED LITTLE BIRDIES

Enjoy your Wednesday!
