Photography Tips and Tricks

If there is one thing that I have learned after selling on Etsy for almost two years, it is the power of a professional looking picture.  It can make or break a sale in about 2 seconds, maybe less.
Even after all this time, I am still learning, and still trying to achieve photographs that look like they are ready for a print campaign.
I yearn for a camera like this:
**SWOON**
But for now, it is just me and my handy little point and shoot Nikon.
**Sigh**
So tonight, on my mission for furthering my photography education, I came across some really great information, and thought it essential to share the wealth!  And at the end of the post you will be able to head over to Indie Fixx's Weekly Photo Challenge to show off your skill!
 1st stop...Picture Correct
This site has an incredible wealth of information regarding photography, for beginners to professionals.
Here are a few of the topics I perused, and found very helpful:
Aperture Settings
2nd Stop...Mommy's Camera
This is a wonderful blog for the Point and Shooters out there!  I just saw that she posted a tutorial on GIMP, which I use...so after I wrap up this post, you know where to find me...on her blog reading up :)
Tutorials
3rd Stop...The Etsy Blog
Most Etsians have probably already read the Guide to Photography, but what the heck...go back and read it again.  I did.  It is chock full of excellent information from some of the Etsy Experts!
Here are the topics:
4th Stop...The Etsy Forums
5th Stop: Cheat Codes

Great post! The one thing I picked up is the rule of thirds from MyNaturesArt. I have no photography background and am still learning, though I got an awesome DSLR a few months back. Hopefully I can put it to better use.

Those Cheat codes are cool as all get out!!

Love your advice :) The best advice I can offer is to take your camera out of automatic mode and never look back!

Auto white balance and exposure are usually off and you can get much better results by turning your camera to aperture priority for exposure, and choosing a custom white balance for color.

Thanks for all the info on photography! I'll have to hang onto your post for reference. Like you, I long for a great DSLR camera, but have to rely on a point 'n shoot.

What a great and informative post! I too have my Nikon Coolpix point and shoot but I do love that thing. It fits so nicely in my purse and I can take it everywhere.

I'm off to check out those sites now!
